There are some thirty beaches in Anguilla, although some are on small islands that can only be

reached by boat, such as Sandy Island, Scrub Island, Prickly Pear or Dog Island. All the island’s

beaches are worth a visit and all boast the extraordinarily clear aquamarine color of the sea that is

characteristic of places close to the Equator where the seabed is made up of pristine white sand.

Therefore, the choice of which beach to visit will depend on factors other than beauty. Crocus Bay

is appealing as part of the Nature Reserve, as well as for its caves and its reputation as an ideal place

to catch a glimpse of sea-turtles. The tiny beach of Little Bay is renowned for its cliffs that will interest

knowledgeable bird-watchers, as it is a favorite nesting place for brown boobies.
