pêche au marlin appâte ici les amateurs de
sensations fortes car ces derniers disposent
d’un terrain de jeu particulièrement abondant
que l’on nomme «Marlin Boulevard».
Pour accéder à cette zone de pêche très
poissonneuse, mettre le cap à l’est - nord est
de Saint-Martin, à quelque 20 milles des
côtes. La période idéale pour rencontrer les
plus beaux spécimens est celle des grandes
migrations, entre avril et septembre. Mieux
vaut néanmoins s’équiper pour faire le
poids avec l’adversaire. Le fameux marlin
bleu peut en effet peser quelques centaines
de livres à la potence, de quoi stimuler les
candidats à des séances de pêche musclées,
qui viennent parfois de loin pour avoir la
chance de taquiner le géant pélagique. Cela
dit, quand le poisson mythique se fait
timide, les pêcheurs peuvent toujours
compter sur quantité de daurades, thons
jaunes et autres wahoo, dont la prolifération
garantit des retours à terre souvent joyeux.

waters in droves because here they will find
the well-stocked hunting ground nicknamed
"Marlin Boulevard". To get to these abundant
waters, just head east-northeast from Saint
Martin, some 20 miles off shore. The ideal
time to find the biggest specimens is during
the great migration season, between April
and September. However, you need to be
well prepared to match the strength of the
adversary. The famous blue marlin can
weigh in at several hundred pounds, a
fitting challenge for those who like a
vigorous struggle, and who often come from
far and wide for the chance to play with a
giant of the open seas. Of course, when the
mythical beast prefers to hide, fishermen
can count on an abundance of sea bream,
yellowfin tuna, wahoo and other species,
that flourish here, ensuring that everyone
returns to shore happy.
