For Maximilaan never really knows when a painting
is finished. Since retiring from the police force
he paints even more! In fact, he likes to tell
people, “I used to paint all the time but now
that I’m retired I paint continuously!”
His paintings travel all over the world and many
international collectors take an interest in his
art. You can find his works in Canada, New York,
Washington, Miami and Europe. It was not long
before the skill of this distinguished painter was
officially recognized. In 2006, Queen Beatrix
awarded him the distinction of “Member of
the House of Orange Nassau” and in 2009,
the government of Sint-Maarten named him
“Ambassador of Art”. As a worthy representative
of the arts, Maximilaan devotes all his time and
energy to the promotion of culture. He also gives
lessons to young artists and encourages them
to express themselves through painting, with
considerable success, as Prime Minister Sarah
Wescot-Williams reminded us. “He has influenced
and inspired the new generation to also focus
on their artistic talents... Congratulations Max,
thank you for your contribution, and may you
continue to create and inspire for many, many
more years...”
