There is no lack of beauty options either. The island’s prestigious
local label of worldwide renown, la Ligne Saint-Barth, is fast becoming
a real contender among the most exclusive cosmetic brands, not only
because of the innovative products it develops but also for the quality
of the ingredients used, which are almost always sourced from organic
or fair-trade suppliers. Most of the stores mentioned above are
concentrated in the neighborhood known as the Carré D’or,
in the Cour Vendôme and in the new rue du Général de Gaulle.
Prices are much more reasonable than in New York or in the
capitals of Europe, thanks to the island’s tax-free status!
Gustavia is also renowned for its numerous restaurants and
bars that come alive at nightfall with a festive crowd. Many offer
shows with live entertainment, including international rock bands,
musicians and DJs. Sometimes, in high season a dozen different
shows will be playing at the same time.
For a more restful evening, there is also a wide choice of fine
dining. Some thirty restaurants are scattered around the town.
Each has its own distinctive style. You will enjoy discovering
the one that suits you best.
One final experience that should not be missed in Gustavia is
a visit to its only beach, the aptly named Shell Beach...
